St James’s Hospital says it is “extremely busy”

St James’s Hospital has issued a public notice stating the hospital is “extremely busy” and is experiencing a high number of patients attending its Emergency Department who need to be admitted for hospital treatment.
The hospital is asking patients with non-emergency conditions to consider alternative care options specifically injury clinics, your GP, or your local pharmacy to help prioritise those in urgent need.
Delays and triage
St James’s said patients may experience delays while waiting to be seen, but noted that all patients are triaged on arrival and are seen according to medical urgency.
What to do in an emergency
The hospital advised that if you or someone you care for has a serious or life-threatening condition, you should call 999/112 or attend the Emergency Department immediately.
