SIPTU has launched an online survey aimed at nurses, healthcare assistants and other staff who worked in nursing homes during the COVID‑19 pandemic. The union intends to use the survey findings to inform its submission to the government’s upcoming review of how nursing homes handled the crisis. SIPTU says hearing directly from frontline workers is essential to ensure that recommendations reflect the realities on the ground.
The survey takes about three minutes to complete and asks respondents about staffing levels, infection‑control measures, access to personal protective equipment and emotional support during the pandemic. SIPTU is encouraging respondents to share the survey with colleagues to maximise participation. The union stresses that all responses will remain confidential.
Nurses who worked in nursing homes during COVID‑19 have an opportunity to influence future policy. Participating in the survey ensures that their experiences and lessons learned are captured in the official record.
